The dentists at Ocean Dental provide compassionate, friendly, and professional dental care to their valued patients in the Burnaby community.
Selecting the right person to care for your family’s dental health takes careful consideration. A good dentist combines clinical expertise with warmth and a genuine concern for patients. Things to consider:
For someone who enjoys helping people and who loves to work with his hands, dentistry is an ideal profession. “I really enjoy making a difference in people’s lives,” says Dr. Pidzarko. “It is so rewarding to help the patient to get to their goal of comfort and confidence in their smile when we restore or enhance their teeth. It’s great when our patients leave here feeling good about their health and appearance.”
“Implant dentistry allows me to offer better solutions to patients who have missing teeth and who wish to have something that looks and functions more naturally and comfortably. Individual teeth, implant supported bridges or implant supported dentures can dramatically improve how people feel about themselves and we can return them to normal function. I love to sit down with people and discuss what they would like to change and then I can create a custom solution that best suits the individual”
Dr Pidzarko is a General Dentist who attained his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Alberta in Edmonton in 1990. He founded Ocean Dental and has been practicing there since 1990. He completed several levels of higher education in implant dentistry, implant surgery and grafting, both conventional fixed orthodontics and Invisalign orthodontic certification, cosmetic dentistry and prosthodontics, computerized CEREC milled restorations and LASER dentistry from the World Clinical Laser Institute as well as Facial Aesthetics Certification involving Botox Cosmetics and Filler treatments.
Away from dentistry, he enjoys golfing, playing hockey, as well as cooking, travel and skiing with his wife and two sons.
Dr. Beckie graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Doctor of Dental Medicine in 1986 at the age of 22.
He moved to Metro Vancouver in 1987 and practiced in several locations before settling at Ocean Dental in 1998.
"What makes dentistry exciting for me is incorporating the latest technologies into daily practice. Every day I am looking for ways to make beautiful, natural looking dentistry more comfortable for our customers. Hearing people say “that was much easier than I anticipated” and “that’s so beautiful” are the compliments that keep me striving for continuous improvement."
I enjoy skiing, hockey, golf, yoga, gardening and photography. Happily married since 1991 and a father of three school aged girls, I have a large extended family that I am very close to. It gives me the opportunity to hear about the needs and concerns of all ages.
Dr. Poulad received his dental degree from the University of British Columbia. His undergraduate degree is in Cell Biology, Genetics and Economics.
During his studies as a dental student he had an externship to a rural BC community where he got an opportunity to hone his skills as a dentist. With no specialist in town, he was expected to perform all aspects of dentistry and he enjoyed the experience so much that after completing dental school he returned to that community to provide dental care to the underserved. Every year, Dr. Poulad donates his time and expertise, and travels to less fortunate countries to provide dental care.
Dr. Poulad gets along with all ages: he spent 10 years as a day camp leader, sports instructor, teen mentor, and referee with the North Van Rec Commission. In addition to his experience with the youth, he volunteered at the Evergreen House, a long term care facility for the elderly.
Growing up on the North Shore allowed him to have an active life. He grew up playing many team sports: basketball, soccer, rugby and volleyball. He continued with basketball and soccer at the University of British Columbia playing on several intramural men's teams.
Dr. Poulad’s focus is on patient care and striving to ensure that the patient is comfortable while receiving professional treatment. "My goal is to put the patient at ease and make them feel as safe and comfortable as possible prior to starting any dental treatment." Dr. Poulad involves his patients in the process by educating them and allowing them to make an informed decision. He also takes great pride in alleviating any anxiety or fear the patient may have and providing them with efficient and personalized care.
